Resettlement
Established in 2024, FOCUS Australia is an affiliate of Focus Humanitarian Assistance (FOCUS International) — a global humanitarian organisation founded in 1994 under the guidance of His Late Highness the Aga Khan IV. For more than 30 years, FOCUS has supported vulnerable communities across Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America, enabling thousands of families to rebuild their lives following conflict, persecution, and natural disasters.
In Australia, our core mandate is the resettlement of refugees and displaced families through complementary pathways. We work to ensure that individuals arriving through these pathways can transition safely and sustainably into the Australian community. Our programs prioritise protection, early settlement support, and long-term integration outcomes.
FOCUS Australia aims to collaborate closely with government agencies, community organisations, private sponsors, and volunteers to deliver coordinated, practical assistance. Our support framework includes orientation, settlement planning, access to essential services, and pathways that promote social and economic participation.
Although resettlement remains our principal focus, we also wish to maintain operational readiness to support Australian communities affected by natural disasters, including floods, bushfires, and severe weather events.
As an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) — one of the world’s leading development organisations — FOCUS Australia benefits from a long tradition of humanitarian expertise built on the values of professionalism, pluralism, and service. Our work is guided by evidence, partnerships, and a commitment to strengthening community resilience.
FOCUS Australia welcomes opportunities to work with donors, government and civil society partners who share our commitment to delivering effective, accountable, and dignified support to people seeking safety — and to the communities that welcome them.
